Presidential Envoy to Batken holds meeting due to mudflows in region

Presidential Envoy to Batken region Abdikarim Alimbayev held a meeting of operational headquarters on June 25 with the participation of heads of districts, city mayors and employees of the regional civil protection service regarding the liquidation of the consequences of mudflows. The press service of the office of the Presidential Envoy reported.

As noted, more than 1,000 residents were evacuated due to mudflows in Batken. The body of a deceased five-year-old child from Zhenish village was found at 11.45 p.m. and handed over to doctors. A 70-year-old local resident was also injured by the natural disaster. He was hospitalized. His condition is serious.

The mudflow also swept away 8 heads of cattle and 42 heads of small cattle.

The head of the region instructed to attract all the necessary equipment to clean up the villages, restore water supply, electricity supply, create conditions for everyday life and provide psychological support to citizens.

As a result of the mudflows that occurred in Batken, Leilek and Kadamdzhai districts, 47 residential buildings, 113 vegetable gardens, 5 social facilities, a football field, 17 on-farm roads, a transformer, and five bridges were damaged.

Work is underway to clean up and restore the villages. Roads in the region are open.
