The Committee on Social Policy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan approved in the second reading the bill prohibiting the import, sale and use of electronic cigarettes.
Violation of these bans is punishable by fines and imprisonment.
Initially, the use of electronic cigarettes was proposed to be punished with a fine of 400,000 calculated rates, that is, 40,000 soms. But after discussion deputies decided to reduce the fine to 10,000 soms.
Fines for legal entities for the use of vape devices were set at 60,000 soms. Fines of 50,000 soms are provided for individuals and 65,000 soms — for legal entities for the sale of e-cigarettes.
Import of vape devices is proposed to be punished with a fine from 150,000 to 200,000 soms or imprisonment from one to two years.
