Leilek District Court considered the criminal case against an officer of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS), 35, and an investigator of the Internal Affairs Department of Leilek district, 29. The press center of the SCNS reported.
They were detained while taking a bribe of $1,000 for so-called «backing» of smuggling.
By court decision, they were found guilty and sentenced to six years with confiscation of property. The detainees will serve their sentences in general regime correctional institutions.
An attempt to smuggle consumer goods worth 47 million soms to the neighboring country was also stopped in Batken region. The contraband was reportedly transported on a heavy-duty vehicle of VOLVO brand.
«On June 12, by the verdict of the judicial bodies, the goods and the truck were confiscated to the state income. The consumer goods, in accordance with the legislation, were transferred in the prescribed manner to representatives of the State Agency for State Property Management for their further sale. The truck (approximate value is $17,000) was transferred to the balance of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic,» the SCNS reported.
