«Flood warning systems, with the participation of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), will be installed in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan,» the organization’s Director General Audrey Azoulay said, speaking at the Glacier Forum, which takes place as part of the International High-Level Conference «Water for Sustainable Development» in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). Turkish Gambit Telegram channel reports.
Audrey Azoulay noted: one of UNESCO’s goals within its mandate in the field of science is to determine how vulnerable the population is to the melting of glaciers processes. According to her, early flood warning systems will be installed this summer in Talgar river basin in Kazakhstan, in Pskem river basin in Uzbekistan, as well as in the Alai valley in Kyrgyzstan.
It is also planned to introduce this system in Tajikistan.
