Kyrgyzstan gets into list of countries with child malnutrition

Kyrgyzstan was included in the list of countries with undernourished children. UNICEF published the report «Child Food Poverty. Nutrition deprivation in early childhood» for 2022.

A total of 63 countries were included in the list. According to UNICEF, Somalia has the highest child malnutrition. This country tops the list.

It is followed by Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Liberia, India, Pakistan, Mauritania, Senegal, Benin, Kiribati, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Gambia, Congo, Niger, Burkina Faso, Haiti, Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Syria, Mali and Timor-Leste.

Kyrgyzstan is classified as a country with a medium level of child malnutrition. The republic took 40^th place after the Marshall Islands, Lesotho, Cameroon, Yemen, Gabon, Papua New Guinea, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Uganda, Zambia, Suriname, Ecuador, South Africa, Samoa, Sao Tome and Principe, Egypt, Tanzania, Turks and Caicos Islands, Laos, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Guyana, Jordan, Albania, Philippines, Burundi, Algeria, Chad, Kenya, Armenia, Iraq, Tuvalu, Cambodia, Palestine, Tonga, Rwanda and Jordan. Uzbekistan, North Macedonia and China are on the list after Kyrgyzstan.

A low level of malnutrition in children is registered in countries such as Honduras, Thailand, Mongolia, Cuba, Vietnam, Brazil, Tunisia, Montenegro, Nepal, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Georgia, Colombia, Bolivia, Uruguay, Maldives, Paraguay, Sri- Lanka, Turkmenistan, Peru, Costa Rica, Serbia and Belarus.
