We need to support Russian and learn it in schools - Akylbek Japarov

«We need to support the Russian language and learn it in schools,» the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, said in an interview with Russia 24 TV channel on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of signing of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.

According to him, to date, more than 2,500 schools in Kyrgyzstan need native Russian language speakers.

«We have set the status of Russian as an official language. To date we have reached an agreement with the Russian government on the construction of nine educational institutions. These are the most modern schools. They will start working in the next five years in all regional centers and two cities — Bishkek and Osh,» Akylbek Japarov noted.

He added that modernization of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after Boris Yeltsin has begun.
