At least 13,104 cases of domestic violence were registered in 2023. Ombudsperson of Kyrgyzstan Jamilya Jamanbaeva reported at a meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial, Legal Issues and Regulations of the Parliament.
According to her, there were 9,880 cases of domestic violence in 2022. The growth reached 32.6 percent. Last year, 10,884 protection orders were issued, which is 30.2 percent more than in 2022.
As Jamilya Jamanbaeva emphasized, 187 women and 185 children attempted suicide in 2023. Most of the facts are related to domestic violence.
