President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov launched Bala-Saruu hydroelectric power plant (HPP) in Talas region. The president’s website reports.
«The small hydroelectric power plant Bala-Saruu was built on the downstream of Kirov reservoir with three generators with a total capacity of 25 megawatts. Average annual electricity generation will be 92 million kilowatt-hours. This will make it possible to meet the electricity needs of 19,000 consumers in two districts of Talas region,» the statement says.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, the head of state noted that the lack of electricity in the country, where almost 90 percent of the territory is occupied by mountains and rivers flow through gorges and valleys, is an inexcusable phenomenon. He recalled that in the past, for the construction of state facilities, funds from international donors were often attracted in the form of loans, and they were built by foreign companies.
Sadyr Japarov stressed that the feasibility study for the construction of Bala-Saruu HPP was updated by the research institute under the Ministry of Energy, and it was built by domestic companies.
Our compatriots who participated in the construction of the hydroelectric power plant gained vast experience and became highly qualified specialists. This proves that our power engineers, builders and designers are capable of implementing such a project. This is a great pride for the state.
