Following a regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana, en route to Islamabad, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar will make a brief stopover in Bishkek. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.
In Bishkek, Mohammad Ishaq Dar intends to visit Pakistani citizens receiving relevant treatment in medical institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic. Besides, there will be working meetings of the representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic with him.
A spontaneous protest against foreigners, which began in the evening of May 17 in Bishkek, ended only in the morning of May 18. The police managed to come to an agreement with the protesters, and they opened Chui Avenue, and dispersed a little later. According to the Ministry of Health, 41 victims sought medical help as a result of the mass brawl with foreigners in Bishkek.
Following a fight on May 13 in a hostel, which was one of the reasons for the protests, the police detained four citizens of Egypt; they were later placed under house arrest. A criminal case was initiated under the article «Hooliganism» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The suspects in the attack on foreign citizens in the hostel on Ogonbaev Street were detained.
