Ombudsperson of Kyrgyzstan Jamilya Jamanbaeva presented the annual report «On Observance of Human and Civil Rights and Freedoms in Kyrgyzstan in 2023» at a meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial, Legal Issues and Regulations of the Parliament.

In her report, she told about the increasing cases of harassment of women and girls in public transport.

«Public transport remains a dangerous place for women and girls. Ninety percent of female survey participants said they had been subjected to various forms of harassment in it,» Jamilya Jamanbaeva said.

MP Dastanbek Dzhumabekov suggested installing panic buttons in public transport for such cases. «This is a big problem. You say — 90 percent. This is very dangerous. It’s already wild. We need to restore order,» he said.
