President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov took part in the grand opening of the airport in Talas. The press service of the head of state reported.
After a long break in the operation of airports in the regions of the country, the government, together with Manas International Airport, took measures to resume air traffic, Sadyr Japarov said. The airport in Talas was the first result of this work.
Talas airport, built in 1979 to operate airplanes and helicopters, did not work after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The runway was closed due to the need for complete reconstruction and the obsolescence of the airfield’s artificial surface. Within a year, the airfield was restored, and its compliance with international standards was ensured.
A new airport terminal with a capacity of 100 people per hour and a modernized runway became the main elements of the updated airport complex.
The President noted that the project to revive the republic’s airports is not limited to Talas. The air terminal complexes of Karakol and Tamchi international airports are under construction.
The construction of Naryn airport has been completed and the runway is being renovated. The reconstruction of the runways of Kazarman, Kerben and Batken airports is being completed. Batken International Airport is already receiving flights. In addition, for the first time, Manas International Airport purchased Q-400 aircraft for domestic air transportation.
