11,276 Kyrgyzstanis file complaints with Ombudsman’s Institute in 2023

At least 11,276 citizens appealed to the Ombudsman’s Institute in 2023. The Ombudsperson of Kyrgyzstan, Jamilya Jamanbaeva, said at a meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial, Legal Issues and Regulations of the Parliament.

According to her, 23.2 percent of them appealed in writing, 33.5 percent received oral consultations.

«Mainly pensioners, unemployed, citizens without permanent residence, people with disabilities, prisoners appeal to the institute. According to the analysis, a lot of complaints are received about judicial and law enforcement bodies,» Jamilya Jamanbaeva told.

Characteristics of appeals:

  • Judicial and law enforcement bodies — 51.4 percent;
  • Social security bodies — 10.6 percent;
  • Local government bodies — 1.5 percent;
  • Health care institutions — 1.2 percent;
  • Education and science system — 0.9 percent.
