Kyrgyzstan’s farmers plan to increase strawberry exports to 20 tons per hectare

Domestic producers exporting strawberries intend to increase the average yield to 20 tons per hectare. They announced this at a meeting with the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev.

The head of the Ministry of Agriculture held a meeting together with representatives of Aiyl Bank OJSC, RSK Bank and domestic producers-exporters in order to further develop the export potential of strawberries.

The current situation in Kyrgyzstan and opportunities, global market trends were discussed with identification of potential market for strawberries. A number of serious and significant problems related to financing were voiced, as well as the issue of providing land for the construction of warehouses.

A comparative analysis of competitors in the target market was carried out and the conditions for entering the market were studied. Domestic farmers said they set big goals for themselves and planned to increase strawberry exports to $1 billion in the coming years.
