Negotiations took place between the co-chairs of the government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Following the negotiations, the heads of government delegations made a statement. In particular, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan Kamchybek Tashiev said that several fundamental decisions have been made on the border.
«These decisions concern the main issue. I think we are very close to reaching «the whole solution,» he said after talks with his Tajik counterpart.
In turn, the head of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan, Saimumin Yatimov, announced that the negotiations were successful and a fundamental decision was made on two main issues. «First of all, this concerns Vorukh — Khojai Alo road. We consider this issue to be practically resolved. The second issue is about the facilities that are used by the Republic of Tajikistan on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic. In this regard, we have reached a fundamental decision,» he said.
According to the agreements, Kyrgyzstan will have access to facilities used by it on the territory of Tajikistan. But Tajikistan will remain the owner of the land. Tajikistan will also use its facilities in the Kyrgyz Republic according to the same principle.
«These are very important strategic areas of our activities, in which we have achieved concrete results. Therefore, the very fact of fixing this issue through the media and announcing it to the public is a major event. We are closer to resolving the main issue, our negotiations simultaneously lead to the demarcation of the state border in order to exclude other disputes in this regard,» Saimumin Yatimov said.
He also said that similar and equivalent measures have been taken on Tort-Kocho section. «It will be used in the same way as we use it in Vorukh — Khojai Alo direction,» the head of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan said.
