Blogger detained for posts about events in the Middle East

The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) detained a blogger for distributing materials aimed at inciting religious hatred. The SCNS press center reported.

According to the state committee, the man positioned himself as an independent human rights defender (he has no legal education) of «oppressed», in his opinion, believers.

«He was an active blogger, and using his channels on social media (YouTube, Telegram, Instagram) regularly posted materials aimed at justifying extremist activities and discrediting government bodies,» the SCNS said.

The state committee added that in connection with the events taking place in the Middle East, he began distributing materials with signs of inciting ethnic discord, inciting religious hatred and propaganda of war.

The man was detained and placed in a pre-trial detention center as part of a criminal case under Article 330 «Incitement of racial, ethnic, national, religious or interregional enmity (discord)» of the Criminal Code. Investigative measures are carried out.
