Foreigner detained for extortion of large sum of money from his compatriot

A foreign citizen was caught red-handed, who extorted $12,500 from a compatriot for assistance in obtaining a diploma from one of the higher educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan. The press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.

It was found out that the foreigner reached an agreement with citizens of other states and prevented his fellow graduates from receiving university diplomas of the Kyrgyz Republic, creating artificial barriers for them.

«The detainee has been taken into custody. As part of the investigative actions, work is being carried out to identify other persons involved in this crime,» the statement says.
