Russian civil activist Mansur Movlaev left Kyrgyzstan. His lawyer Bakyt Avtandil reported.
According to him, he left Kyrgyzstan because of the threat of being deported to Chechnya, where he is in danger. Earlier, the Bishkek City Court released Mansur Movlaev from custody, upholding the decision to deport him from the country.
The whereabouts of the activist are unknown. The information is not disclosed for security reasons, the lawyer explained.
By the verdict of the Pervomaisky District Court on October 4, Mansur Movlaev was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 378 «Illegal border crossing» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
«He was sentenced to imprisonment for six months to be served in a prison colony with general regime. The beginning of the sentence is calculated from August 20. The period of detention before the verdict enters into legal force is counted at the rate of one day in custody for two days of imprisonment,» the verdict says.
Mansur Movlaev has repeatedly spoken out against human rights violations and political repression in Chechnya. In 2020, he was sentenced to three years in prison. Representatives of the Russian opposition emphasize that the case is fabricated. In 2022, he was released on parole, but was detained by officers of the Shalinsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Chechnya. Mansur Movlaev managed to escape from the Russian Federation and was put on the federal wanted list. The activist had been in Kyrgyzstan since last year.
