Kyrgyzstan recognizes rights of Palestinians to independence - Sadyr Japarov

The President of Kyrgyzstan, as part of his working visit to Riyadh (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), spoke at the eighth extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Sadyr Japarov noted the importance of the meeting, stressing that that emergency meeting was being held in connection with the catastrophic events in Palestine.

«The Kyrgyz people share the grief of the families who have lost their loved ones in this conflict and all Palestinian citizens who have suffered enormous losses and suffering as a result of the violence that intensified more than a month ago. Every lost life is a great tragedy. The Kyrgyz Republic is ready to provide humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of civilians in the Gaza Strip. We believe that it is our common responsibility to support our Palestinian brothers in ending external aggression and the loss of innocent lives, and to provide humanitarian assistance,» he said.

According to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the fighting in the Gaza Strip has led to numerous casualties and suffering for the Palestinian people, which is an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.

The death of innocent civilians, including infants and women, is unacceptable and should be widely condemned by the international community.

«Attacking civilian infrastructure, schools, hospitals and living quarters without choice is not only a violation of international humanitarian law, but also a serious violation of human rights,» Sadyr Japarov said.

He stressed that Kyrgyzstan recognizes the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to independence and the creation of a sovereign state. He added that the only correct solution that meets the interests and desires of the Palestinians is the implementation of the relevant resolutions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly.

Kyrgyzstan calls on the Security Council and the UN General Assembly, on behalf of the international community, to take effective and decisive measures to end the violence and resolve the security crisis in the Gaza Strip.

«At the same time, it is necessary for our Islamic Ummah to convince the international community to take a united and consolidated position against this aggression and intensify international efforts to engage the conflicting parties in negotiations. It is essential that parties to conflict prioritize the protection of the lives of their citizens and respect the universal rules of international humanitarian law as enshrined in core UN documents. The principles of justice, equality and respect for human rights must guide our actions in seeking to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,» the head of state added.
