«The UK’s visa policy in respect of citizens of Kyrgyzstan has not changed for today,» British Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nic Bowler said at a briefing today.
According to him, relations between Kyrgyzstan and Great Britain are improving. At the same time, he noted that England shares the feelings of the civil sector regarding the adopted bill on NGOs.
«As for calls not to issue visas to deputies who support the document, we did not have the opportunity to discuss this in detail. But so far the visa policy has not changed,» Nic Bowler said.
On October 25, the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan adopted in the first reading changes to the Law on NGOs and the Criminal Code, initiated by Nadira Narmatova and a group of deputies, which provide for the introduction of the concept of «foreign representative» (analogue to a foreign agent in Russian legislation).
A petition has been created demanding the introduction of personal sanctions and visa restrictions for deputies promoting the law on foreign agents and their close relatives. It was posted on Change.org website.
