Almost all — 99.7 percent — of Kumtor Gold Company employees are citizens of Kyrgyzstan. The President of the company, Almaz Baryktabasov, announced at a meeting of the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Subsoil Use and Industrial Policy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.
According to him, 21 foreign specialists work at the enterprise — at the factory and in maintenance.
«There are Kyrgyzstanis everywhere — in the management, offices in Bishkek and Balykchy, at the mine,» Almaz Baryktabasov said and recalled that the company returned to rented premises in the building of Uchkun OJSC.
The president of the enterprise stressed that the Cabinet of Ministers allocated land for the construction of a new building for Kumtor. Its construction will begin next year.
In June 2022, parliament member Zhenishbek Toktorbaev said that Heritage of Great Nomads National Holding was renting a building in the center of the capital for a large amount of money. According to him, the rent was at least $50,000 per month.
Spokesman for the president Erbol Sultanbayev said that the head of the holding and temporary external manager of Kumtor Gold Company Tengiz Bolturuk did not coordinate the decision to move from the office in the building of Uchkun OJSC either with the Cabinet of Ministers or with Sadyr Japarov.
Tengiz Bolturuk himself stated that there was not enough space in Uchkun.
