Deputies Akylbek Tumonbaev, Balbak Tulobaev, Karim Khanjeza and Emil Toktoshev met with the U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Kyrgyzstan Lesslie Viguerie. The press service of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Participants of the meeting discussed issues in the spheres of expansion of political and economic relations, inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. MP Emil Toktoshev noted that young people of Kyrgyzstan are interested in traveling to the United States to get education and discover this country.
«Unfortunately, our citizens face a number of problems in obtaining visas, in particular, they often receive refusals. It is necessary to consider simplifying the procedure for obtaining visas for citizens of Kyrgyzstan,» the deputy said.
In turn, U.S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Lesslie Viguerie said that as part of his diplomatic activities he intends to focus on the development of relations between the two countries, in particular the spheres of economy, education, health care.
«We are also interested in strengthening inter-parliamentary ties,» he said. As for the visa issues, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan appealed to the United States, Washington is considering the issue of extending the visa validity period for Kyrgyzstan,» he concluded.
