Wildberries has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the khokimiyat of Tashkent region of Uzbekistan. Russian media reported.
The parties agreed on strategic partnership and construction of a large logistics hub Wildberries in Tashkent region. It may become the largest logistics center of the company outside Russia and will create more than 7,500 jobs for residents of Uzbekistan. Opening of the logistic center is planned for 2025.
The planned area of Wildberries logistics hub is over 150,000 square meters. The khokimiyat of Tashkent region will allocate 29.4 hectares to the company. The online marketplace plans to invest about $140 million in the construction of the logistics facility.
It should be noted that Wildberries addressed the authorities of Kyrgyzstan with a similar request. The company guaranteed the construction of a warehouse with an area of 50,000 square meters, investments of 3.5 billion rubles and the creation of at least 2,500 jobs. In June 2023, the management of the marketplace met with the head of the Cabinet of Ministers. Akylbek Japarov instructed to propose an option for the site. But, as 24.kg news agency learned from its own sources, the matter has not moved any further.
