Kyrgyzstani who participated in war in Ukraine receives Russian passport

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting citizenship to a citizen of Kyrgyzstan who participated in the military conflict in Ukraine on the side of Russia. URA.RU reported, citing the Ombudsperson of Sverdlovsk Oblast Tatyana Merzlyakova.

The Kyrgyzstani faced ten years in prison for mercenary activities in his homeland.

«The citizen of Kyrgyzstan was in the temporary detention center: the decision to expel him came into force. His friends and colleagues did not agree with this — they decided to fight for justice. As a result, they reached President Putin: the day before he signed a decree on conferment of Russian citizenship,» Tatyana Merzlyakova said.

She recalled that a law prohibiting mercenary activities is in force in Kyrgyzstan. Based on it, there are convicted participants in the military operation in Ukraine: they were sentenced to ten years in prison in their homeland.

Tatyana Merzlyakova noted that the new Russian citizen is now recovering in the hospital and is preparing to go to the front again.
