The chief architect of Bishkek, Urmat Karybaev, was placed in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security for 10 days. The press service of the Pervomaisky District Court informed 24.kg news agency.
Urmat Karybaev will be in custody until October 16. He is suspected of abuse of office.
According to preliminary data, the head of Bishkekglavarkhitektura was detained as part of a criminal case regarding the illegal transfer of land. The damage amounts to 8 million soms.
Bishkekglavarkhitektura, which 24.kg news agency contacted for comment, previously reported that the director has been on vacation since October 2 and has not been at work since the beginning of the week. Urmat Karybaev was appointed to the position of chief architect of the capital in June 2022. Since 2009, he has been a member of the Union of Architects of the Kyrgyz Republic. He attended courses and workshops in the USA, Singapore and Japan.
