Kyrgyzstan's gold reserves exceeded 50 tons - Akylbek Japarov

Kyrgyzstan is increasing its gold reserves, their level has exceeded 50 tons. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, said.

«Thanks to the measures taken by the government, we now have more than 50 tons of gold in the National Bank. In the current era of changing geopolitical and economic trends, this will give us the opportunity for stable development and ensuring the future of our country,» TASS quoted the official as saying.

According to Akylbek Japarov, in total, about 15,000 deposits of various minerals have been discovered on the territory of the republic. About 500 of them are currently actively being developed.

«To date, there are 26 mines of fuel and energy resources, 60 — precious metals, 36 — non-ferrous and rare metals, gypsum, yellow stone, salt and so on in the country. We have more than 15 mineral water deposits, such as Jalal-Abad, Issyk-Ata, Arashan. They bring billions of dollars in revenue to the state, and GDP exceeded 1 trillion soms (about $11.29 billion),» the head of the Cabinet added.
