Performances of a showman Maxim Galkin were canceled again in Kazakhstan. Novaya Gazeta Europe reports.

According to the media outlet, the artist was to give a concert at Kazakhstan Central Concert Hall in Astana on October 8. However, on September 30, the management of the Central Concert Hall announced that technical work on water supply networks will be carried out on the site on October 4-10 and the concert, respectively, was canceled.

On October 9, Maxim Galkin was to perform at the Palace of the Republic in Almaty. However, on October 1, it was also closed — due to the emergency condition of the mechanics of the stage, the elimination of which, as reported on social media, will take two weeks.

In late August, Maxim Galkin said that Kazakhstan «at the state level» was preventing his performances in Almaty and Astana. He said that his team has been trying to organize the concerts for many months, but keeps facing opposition from officials.

Maxim Galkin has been declared a «foreign agent» in Russia. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops, he has consistently opposed the war.

Concerts of artists from Russia who support the war, such as Polina Gagarina and Grigory Leps, have also been canceled in the past.
