A conference of the Chiefs of General Staff of the countries of Central and South Asia was held at the Palace of International Forums Uzbekistan in Tashkent. Gazeta.uz reported, citing the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It was attended by delegations from the Ministries of Defense of Uzbekistan, the USA, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The conference was opened by the Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan Bakhodir Kurbanov and the Commander of the U.S. Central Command Michael Kurilla.
Such issues as regional security and stability, the fight against terrorism and humanitarian assistance were discussed during the conference, the Ministry of Defense noted.
