Human rights activist from Karakol intends to defend his rights in UN Committee

The Issyk-Kul Regional Court did not satisfy the application of a human rights activist Kamil Ruziev against the investigator and employee of the regional prosecutor’s office Bekten Zholdoshev. He himself told 24.kg news agency.

The court refused to initiate criminal proceedings against employees of the national security agencies and the prosecutor’s office.

Kamil Ruziev does not agree with the decision and intends to appeal to the UN Human Rights Committee.

«The case against me was opened illegally on the basis of fabricated facts, I was illegally tried and sentenced to a fine. Investigators and prosecutors must be held liable for this,» he said, adding that he was tortured to get testimony and criminate himself.

According to Kamil Ruziev, the Supreme Court brought in an acquittal for lack of evidence of a crime in January.

Employees of the State Committee for National Security detained the human rights activist on May 30, 2020 in Karakol. The court placed him under house arrest. Kamil Ruziev was accused of using a fake medical certificate. According to investigators, the human rights activist allegedly did this in order to extend the deadline for appealing against the decision of the Karakol City Court in one of the cases on which he worked. However, in 2021, the examination confirmed that the certificate was real.
