Kazakhstan will introduce mandatory dactyloscopy from next year. The government of the country reported.
As stated by Nurzhan Dzhanabaev, Senior Inspector of the Migration Service Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, fingerprint registration will be mandatory from January 1, 2024.
The department stresses that all citizens of Kazakhstan and foreigners permanently residing in the country, except for children under 12 years old, are subject to fingerprints registration. Children from 12 to 16 years old are subject to fingerprint registration on a voluntary basis.
The purpose of dactyloscopic registration is to protect a person’s interests, safeguard his or her legal rights, health and safety.
Fingerprinting will be carried out at the Public Service Centers when issuing identity cards, passports, residence permits to foreigners and stateless person’s certificates.
Administrative liability is provided for refusal to undergo compulsory dactyloscopy.
