Russia has called on Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to refrain from harsh statements and rash steps that could negate the recent positive results achieved in the negotiation process on delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. Website of the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry says.

As noted, Moscow is closely following the development of the situation in connection with the escalated mutual rhetoric between Bishkek and Dushanbe regarding the existing contradictions in the sphere of border delimitation.

«Taking into account the agreements reached during the meeting of the Presidents of Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on October 13, 2022 in Astana, our country confirms its sincere readiness to provide any assistance acceptable to our partners,» the statement says.

The Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that armed conflicts in the post-Soviet space are beneficial primarily to the «collective West», which pursues its selfish goals that have nothing to do with the genuine interests of Central Asian countries.

Earlier, Kamchybek Tashiev, head of the State National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, called on the Tajik authorities to give up territorial claims to Kyrgyzstan.

«If the neighboring country does not give up its territorial claims, then we will also make them. We have enough strength and capabilities for this. We have the opportunity to return the lands that were transferred to the Republic of Tajikistan tens, or even hundreds of years ago,» the head of the State Committee for National Security said.

Immediately afterwards, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan Erlan Abdyldayev was invited to the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Tajikistan. It was noted that during the conversation the Ambassador was informed about the concern of the Tajik side about the statements made by the high state official of the Kyrgyz Republic on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border issues that appeared in the information space on September 15.
