President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi. The press service of the head of state reported.
The leaders discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres of interaction.
Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi noted good opportunities and high potential for bringing bilateral relations between the states to a new level. He noted the low level of trade turnover and suggested making every effort to increase it. The President of Iran emphasized the importance of activating the work of the bilateral joint intergovernmental commission.
Sadyr Japarov, in turn, expressed readiness to continue constant political dialogue and interaction at all levels, as well as to further strengthen Kyrgyz-Iranian cooperation in areas of mutual interest. He supported the Iranian leader’s initiative to deepen trade and economic cooperation between the countries, attaching importance to investment cooperation.
The President noted the need to address the issue of logistics, stressing the importance of building China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railroad. In addition, he emphasized the important role of the Kyrgyz-Iranian intergovernmental joint commission and suggested holding its next meeting in Bishkek before the end of this year.
Sadyr Japarov congratulated Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi on receiving the status of a country — full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The Heads of State invited each other to visit Kyrgyzstan and Iran at a time convenient for them.
