President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov opened a presidential lyceum for gifted children Akylman, built on his initiative. Presidential press service reported.
Akylman lyceum is a state specialized general educational organization. Students who have completed six grades of the secondary school are admitted to it. About 400 students are expected to study at the lyceum. This is a Kyrgyz-English lyceum. Students from all regions of the country will be admitted based on the results of an annual competitive selection process. Teachers will also be selected through competition.
At least 75 students have been admitted for the 2023/24 school year. Education, accommodation and meals at the lyceum are free of charge, and all living conditions have been created for students and teachers. Expenses are covered from the budget.
The head of state said that Kyrgyzstan has many talented children. He noted the need to be able to recognize the talents and abilities of children, to develop them diligently, as the relevance of developing a system of support for talented children remains an open question in science.
«By opening such a lyceum, the state will take care of gifted children and help them discover their intellectual abilities, deepen their knowledge in the area they are interested in and grow up to be multilaterally developed people. This is an invaluable contribution to the development of our country. If we manage to identify gifted children from various corners of the country, who for one reason or another have remained unnoticed, and help them to further show their talents, the bright future of our country will be ensured,» Sadyr Japarov said.
«Students who have been selected to Akylman will not be distracted by everyday affairs. I really hope that under the guidance of professional teachers in the lyceum they will pursue day and night only one goal — to study hard. After all, engaging in science, making new discoveries and inventions is like digging a well with a needle. If the Akyilman project is successful, such nests of knowledge will be expanded,» the President assured.
«With the opening of the presidential lyceum, all the attention of the republic will be focused on your school, work and your students. Your students should become the pride not only of the lyceum, but also of the whole Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, I rely on you and expect you to search for suitable practices, study the experience of developed countries and lead to concrete results. Akylman lyceum’s curriculum will be focused on mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. We aim to teach in English. Much attention in this nest of knowledge will be paid to national values,» the head of state noted.
