The Association of Agro-Industrial Complex of Kyrgyzstan calls the public to pay attention to the situation with the trucks standing at the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border and asks the country’s leadership to take measures to resolve it. An open appeal to the state bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic and partner countries in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) says.

Kazakhstan has suspended entry into its territory, limiting the passage of cargo vehicles from Kyrgyzstan.

«Unfortunately, every year we have to observe a similar situation, as a result of which farmers and agricultural producers of the Kyrgyz Republic suffer huge material and moral losses,» the appeal says.

The Association reminds that Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are members of the EAEU. This Union assumes free movement of goods between the territories of the union member states without customs declaration and state control.

«But we observe violation of the established principles on the part of the neighboring republic to the detriment of the interests of Kyrgyz entrepreneurs. The current circumstances raise serious concerns and require adoption of an effective set of measures. No less important is the prompt response of the authorized bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic to find a solution to the situation in the long term. The actions taken by our partners raise certain questions in the context of the principles of interaction and cooperation within the EAEU. Authorized state bodies of Kyrgyzstan need to take a prompt and active position to consider this situation by the competent body of the EEC and obtain an appropriate objective assessment of the actions of the member of the Union within the established procedures and norms,» the head of the Association of Agro-Industrial Complex Rustam Baltabaev said.

The situation on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border remains difficult. About 500 trucks, including those carrying perishable products, are standing in line there. The Kyrgyz Border Service says it has not imposed any restrictions and checkpoints are operating as usual. Authorities of Kazakhstan claim that they have not introduced any restrictive measures at the checkpoints either. Then they announced an anti-drug operation.
