Kyrgyzstan plans to buy electric buses and charging stations from China

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, discussed with the heads of Chinese companies projects in the field of production of wind farms and electric vehicles. Press service of the Cabinet reported.

Akylbek Japarov met with the Chairman of the Board of Xinjiang Goldwind Science and Technology Co., Ltd. Wu Gang. The parties outlined directions for the implementation of projects of mutual interest. An agreement was reached on further cooperation in the field of information exchange to reduce the emission of harmful substances, training of scientific specialists in the field of renewable energy sources and construction of wind farms.

Xinjiang Goldwind Science and Technology Co., Ltd is China’s innovation leader in the wind farm industry. The company’s annual budget is $560 million. The total installed generation capacity exceeds 100 gigawatts on six continents.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers also met with the Vice President of Gree Altairnano New Energy Inc. Lin Peng.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the issue of supply of electric buses to Kyrgyzstan, including the installation of charging stations in the required quantity.

The head of the Cabinet noted that Kyrgyzstan has committed itself to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, and stressed that the procedure for operating and installing chargers for electric vehicles has been simplified in the country.

In turn, Lin Peng noted that Gree Altairnano New Energy Inc. is one of the top 500 largest companies in the world and is one of the leaders in the production of electric vehicles and charging systems. He noted that in Kyrgyzstan «the cost of electricity is quite low», and expressed his readiness not only to supply the required number of electric buses to the country, but also to prepare a project for the construction of a plant for their assembly.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue work on discussing the proposals voiced by the Vice President of Gree Altairnano New Energy Inc. at the level of state bodies of Kyrgyzstan.
