The famous petroglyphs of Saimaluu-Tash may have their digital copies. The Tourism Development Support Fund reported.
It is planned to make replicas, which can be viewed in the museums of Kyrgyzstan without climbing high into the mountains. According to various estimates, there are from 10,000 to 90,000 petroglyphs in the Saimaluu-Tash National Natural Park. The most ancient rock paintings are more than 5,000 years old, scientists date them back to the Neolithic and Bronze Ages. There are petroglyphs from the Scythian period and the Middle Ages.
Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences — historians, ethnographers, geologists — together with representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Tourism Development Support Fund and other organizations, took samples of rocks and water in order to analyze them on the basis of their own laboratories.
«The trip to the petroglyphs was preceded by a big scientific conference. Its participants discussed the need to include the writings of Saimaluu-Tash in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Its participants talked a lot about the need to preserve the unique mountain drawings. At a minimum, fence off the area where they are located in order to prevent the appearance of animals on it. Another problem that worries specialists is a tectonic fault, which runs just in this place. The activity of rocks makes us think about the safety of petroglyphs. And the digitization of stones, which was already partially carried out in 2016, may be one of the options for solving the problem,» the statement says.
