Criminal case against former minister of education and science of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Beishenaliev is considered in the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.
During the hearing, judge Adylbek Esenbaev said that it was necessary to extend the preventive measure for the accused.
The prosecutor petitioned to leave Almazbek Beishenaliev under house arrest. Lawyers of the former official asked to change his measure of restraint to his written undertaking not to leave the city.
Lawyers motivated the request by the fact that the accused does not hide from the court, comes to hearings on time.
As a result, the court extended the term of house arrest for Beishenaliev.
Almazbek Beishenaliev was detained on September 28, 2022 when taking a bribe of $110,000. According to investigators, he extorted money for enrollment of foreign students into domestic universities. After payment of compensation, the former official was released from custody and placed under house arrest.
