The first minimally invasive surgery on lung lobectomy (removal of a lobe of the lung while maintaining the functioning of the rest of the organ) was performed in Kyrgyzstan. Press center of the Ministry of Health reported.
The operation in the master class mode was performed on the basis of the National Phthisiology Center as part of a scientific visit by a delegation of doctors from the Center for Thoracic Surgery of Xinjiang Medical University, headed by its head Dr. Che Jun.
The ministry added that the features of modern approaches in the surgical treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis were previously discussed at a scientific and practical conference. Chinese doctors shared their experience in performing minimally invasive surgical operations on the chest (operations using endoscopic techniques or through a small muscle incision), which can significantly reduce trauma during surgical interventions.
«Lung lobectomy was performed for the first time in Kyrgyzstan. All the equipment used in the operation remains in our center for performing similar operations in the future,» Abdullaat Kadyrov, director of the National Phthisiology Center, said.
As a result of the scientific visit of doctors from China, a three-year agreement was signed on the continuation of scientific and practical cooperation between the Center for Thoracic Surgery of the Xinjiang Medical University and the National Phthisiology Center, which involves further exchange of experience, training of medical staff and much more.
The exchange of experience between doctors from Kyrgyzstan and China is carried out within the framework of the scientific and technical partnership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) under the program «Promotion and application of standardized minimally invasive methods in thoracic surgery in Central Asia». The National Phthisiology Center has been successfully cooperating with this program since 2016. To date, Kyrgyz surgeons have already taken part in a number of scientific online workshops. The current visit of their Chinese colleagues is the next stage in the implementation of the SCO program.
