Bishkek mayor takes part in forums of SCO sister cities in China

The mayor of the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Emilbek Abdykadyrov, took part in the forums of public diplomacy and SCO sister cities, which are taking place these days in the city of Qingdao (PRC). Press service of the City Hall reported.

The mayor noted that such events give impetus to the intensification of practical cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), increase its potential and international authority.

He also told about the work carried out by the City Hall of the capital.

«The project «Development of the street and road network» is being successfully implemented in Bishkek at the expense of a grant from the Chinese government. This year we started negotiations on the implementation of the third phase of the project. As part of this phase, it is planned to build several large transport interchanges,» Emilbek Abdykadyrov said.

The City Hall added that within the framework of the forums, sub-forums were held, in which members of the delegation of the capital’s City Hall participated in different directions.

A bilateral meeting of the mayors of Bishkek Emilbek Abdykadyrov and Qingdao Zhao Haozhi also took place. Its goal was to discuss and strengthen bilateral cooperation between Bishkek and Qingdao, as well as explore opportunities for development of sister city relations between them.

The parties discussed the importance of sustainable urban development and environmental conservation. They exchanged ideas on urban planning, infrastructure development and environmental measures to improve livability and sustainability.

At the end of the meeting, the mayors agreed to form groups to further explore potential opportunities for cooperation and develop specific action plans for the implementation of the discussed initiatives.

The City Hall recalled that in December 2021 an agreement was signed on the establishment of sister city relations between the cities. Qingdao government also provided a grant of 600,000 yuan to improve the mini park on Deng Xiaoping Avenue.
