The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek chose a preventive measure against people detained on suspicion of preparing a violent seizure of power. Press service of the court reported.
At the request of investigators of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), the chairwoman of Eldik Kenesh party, Roza Nurmatova, and a member of Chek Ara (Border) Public Association, Gulzhigit Isakov, were placed in the pre-trial detention center until June 21. The names of two other suspects have not been reported.
Teacher of the Kyrgyz National University Cholponbek Sydykbaev, at the request of the investigators, was placed under house arrest.
According to investigators, the detainees planned to organize mass riots and acts of disobedience in order to subsequently seize power by force.
«This criminal group throughout the year purposefully recruited supporters into its ranks as well as the most disgruntled citizens across the country. The organizer and ideological inspirer is a civil activist and chairwoman of Eldik Kenesh political party N.R.S. Under her leadership, meetings were regularly held aimed at the indoctrination of the recruited persons against state structures with discussion of plans for the forcible seizure of power,» the SCNS reported.
The state committee noted that more than 100 people from various groups of society and regions of the republic were involved in the organized group, among whom roles with specific tasks were clearly distributed.
