In accordance with the draft law on State Awards, Honorary Titles and State Prizes of the Kyrgyz Republic, the president receives the right to deprive a citizen of a state award. Deputy Minister of Justice Baktiyar Orozov said at a meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial, Legal Issues and Regulations of the Parliament.
He noted that under the current legislation, only a court can deprive a citizen of a previously received state award. This right is now vested in the head of state.
In addition, the new bill proposes to introduce new awards — Hero of the Fatherland and Hero of Labor.
The committee approved the draft law in the first reading.
