Daniel Azhiev detained for organizing transnational webcam studios network

A notorious businessman Daniel Azhiev was detained for organizing a transnational network of webcam studios. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.

«Activities of a transnational stable criminal group under the leadership of D.A., which coordinated the work of a large network of so-called webcam studios, were stopped as part of the criminal case initiated by the state committee at the request of a citizen E.A. on the fact of extortion of money from him. It was established that E.A., being the operator of a network of webcam studios, was subjected to psychological pressure from an administrator N.Sh. who, under the threat of physical violence, began to extort from him $2,000,» the statement says.

During searches in three large studios owned by Daniel Azhiev, 30 operators and 80 computers were found. Girls from abroad were involved in the work.

«Operators worked in three shifts, the total number of network employees reaches approximately 300 people from 18 to 25 years old. Material evidence exposing illegal activities was seized, and three active members of the group were detained, who were charged. The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention for them,» the State Committee for National Security reported.

Daniel Azhiev tried to flee to the UAE on May 31. He was put on the wanted list and subsequently, at the request of the State Committee for National Security, was detained in Uzbekistan while trying to leave for the UAE. He was extradited to the Kyrgyz side on June 4 to be prosecuted.

In 2020, Daniel Azhiev was accused of inciting ethnic hatred. However, he was later declared insane.

He became known in the country due to a scandal. He distributed humanitarian aid among the poor after the authorities declared a state of emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic. Social media users criticized him. After that, the organizer of the webcam studio posted a video where he insulted the Kyrgyzstanis.
