COVID-19: Over 3,500 health workers received compensation in Kyrgyzstan

From 2020 to December 31, 2022, compensations were paid to 3,520 employees of healthcare organizations of Kyrgyzstan, who contracted COVID-19 while being on duty, in the total amount of 629,579,608 soms. Press center of the Ministry of Health reported.

Including the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund paid compensations to 990 employees in the amount of 91,896.1 million soms.

According to official figures, 107 health workers have died since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the total number of infected among medical personnel reached 7,747 people.

These figures include employees of both private healthcare organizations and those who are included in the system of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.

At least 4,883 employees of healthcare organizations of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic submitted documents for compensation, while documents of 1,363 medical workers were rejected.

Some employees who were refused went to court.

«All compensations are transferred directly to the bank accounts of the recipients, there is no corruption component,» the Ministry of Health stressed.
