The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev adopted a resolution on the approval of the protocol signed on January 27, 2023 in Bishkek on amending the agreement between the Governments of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on mutual trips of citizens. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Border Troops of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan are designated as the competent authorities responsible for the implementation of this international agreement. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was instructed to send an appropriate notification to the Kyrgyz side about the implementation by Uzbekistan of the internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of the international agreement.
The document provides that citizens of both countries will be able to cross the border by presenting an ID card, and persons under 16 — an international passport.
Kyrgyzstan has not yet announced completion of domestic procedures for the agreement.
