Provision of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) with food products has reached 93 percent. The head of the Department of Agro-Industrial Policy and Interstate Projects of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Maria Baigot told journalists.
Self-sufficiency for such goods as grain, vegetable oils, dairy products, meat, sugar and vegetables exceeds 95-100 percent. But there are problems with fruit and berry products, the provision with which does not even reach 50 percent. The EAEU is faced with the task of redistributing transport and logistics flows and developing import substitution.
«The EAEU countries are famous for the production of various types of products: Armenia and Kyrgyzstan — fruit and berry products, vegetables and dried fruits, Belarus — meat and dairy products, Kazakhstan — pasta and oilseeds, Russia — vegetable oils and grains. The EAEU is introducing innovations in the production of agricultural products to improve the quality of goods. Cooperation is developing in genomic selection, in the development of alternative proteins, vegetable meat and milk, as well as processing grain into amino acids,» Maria Baigot said.
