Five sculptural works by the Kyrgyz-German artist Jakob Wedel were handed over to the Gapar Aitiev Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts.

According to the museum, the donor is the artist’s son Anatoly Wedel, who had previously written a letter to the Kyrgyz Embassy in Germany asking for help in transferring his father’s works to the museum collection. The museum fund is replenished with beautiful works made in wood.

Jakob Wedel was born in 1931 in Leninpol village, Talas district. In 1963-1964 he completed a sculpture course with Professor Vladislav Puzyrevsky from Leningrad at the Frunze School of Arts, then studied at the Sculpture and Applied Art Department of the Frunze Art College (1970) under the guidance of Albek Mukhutdinov and Suimenkul Chokmorov. In 1988 he moved to Germany.

«The master loved Kyrgyzstan very much, all his work is permeated with Kyrgyz themes. Stylization in his sculptures is intertwined with the symbolism of forms. In the works of Jakob Wedel from earlier years, we are fascinated by the visualization of people and animals on themes related to Kyrgyz history. All his sculptural works have a common tendency to create the most perfect image possible,» the museum employees noted.

The artist created more than 800 works. His works are in museums and private collections in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Berlin, Stuttgart.
