The inflation rate (December to December last year) is projected in the range of 10-12 percent at year-end 2023. Report of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan on monetary policy following the results of 2022 says.

The forecast has been revised upwards. This is due to the activation of the increase in prices for state-administered goods and services. The increase in tariffs for a number of utilities, as well as the cost of travel in public transport in Bishkek, was also taken into account.

«In addition, a relatively good harvest is expected this year in the Central Asian region, at the level of average yields over the past five years. Potentially, this will help curb the rise in food prices. The inflationary background will be formed depending on the intensity of the adoption of new tariffs by government agencies, as well as the dynamics of the exchange rate of the som against the U.S. dollar,» the report says.
