The Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan will review the case against an activist Adilet Ali Myktybek (Baltabai), who was sentenced to five years in prison. Lawyer Nurbek Sydykov told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, the hearing will be held on March 14. The defense side demands to cancel the verdict of the Bishkek City Court.
On November 11 last year, the Pervomaisky District Court found the activist guilty under the article «Calls for mass riots» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. He received a five year suspended prison sentence — probation supervision was applied to him for three years.
On January 12, 2022, the Bishkek City Court overturned the decision of the district court and sentenced Adilet Baltabai to five years in prison. He was arrested in the courtroom.
The activist opposed the legalization of casinos and held rallies.
