Akylbek Japarov visits UzAuto Motors company

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, who is on a working visit to Uzbekistan, got acquainted with the production process at the plant of UzAuto Motors joint-stock company in the city of Asaka (Andijan region).

According to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov noted that this automobile plant is a good example of attracting investments and efficient organization of the production process.

«As part of the development of trade and economic ties between the two countries, it is necessary to establish industrial cooperation. The first steps in this direction have been taken. Now it is only necessary to increase the pace of mutually beneficial cooperation between UzAuto Motors so that the existing agreements will be put into practice in the near future,» he said.

The construction of the plant in Asaka began in June 1994. Production of Damas cars began in March 1996.

Currently, such car models as Spark, Nexia, Cobalt, Lacetti (Gentra), Damas, Labo, Malibu, Tracker, Equinox, Trailblazer, Traverse and Tahoe roll off the assembly line under the Chevrolet brand.

Last year, the plant produced 327,000 cars, this year it is planned to produce up to 400,000 cars.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will jointly produce cars. The new enterprise is planned to be built in Sokuluk district.
