Russia will hand over a rescue helicopter based on Mi-8 to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan in the autumn. Igor Maslov, Chief of the Presidential Directorate for Interregional Relations and Cultural Contacts with Foreign Countries of Russia, announced at the fire engines handover ceremony in Bishkek.
«Today’s event is only a part of the program implemented by the decision of the presidents of the two countries. The handed over fire trucks were made in Russia specifically to order of our Kyrgyz colleagues on the basis of KAMAZ chassis with tanks of greater capacity, with greater speed and maneuverability. The second part of the program worth $20 million will be the transfer of a Mi-8-based rescue helicopter. It is also assembled to order of our colleagues, taking into account the peculiarities of the highlands. It will be fully equipped and will be able to be used in rescue operations at an altitude of over 4,000 meters,» said Igor Maslov.
The ceremony of handing over 40 fire engines to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan took place in Bishkek on Wednesday.
An agreement on the transfer of equipment on a gratuitous basis was previously reached at a bilateral meeting between the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
