Ex-judge of the Constitutional Chamber Klara Sooronkulova, accused of attempt to organize riots in order to seize power, was hospitalized in a private clinic. Lawyer Chinara Dzhakupbekova told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, Klara Sooronkulova will be operated on. After the surgery she will have to strictly observe bed rest for 40 days.
«But this is impossible in the Bishkek remand center 1, where she was kept. Therefore, I intend to petition for a change of the preventive measure to house arrest,» the lawyer said.
The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek extended Klara Sooronkulova’s detention until April 20.
Mass arrests began on October 23. Authorities placed 26 people in jail on charges of preparing for riots.
A number of international human rights organizations such as the International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR), the World Organization Against Torture (OMCT), the Norwegian Helsinki Committee (NHC), the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (HFHR), Freedom Now and others issued a statement calling for the immediate release of politicians and activists arrested in Kyrgyzstan.
